Friday of the Thirty-Fourth Week of Ordinary Time
Dear Friend,
Just a brief Friday Memo this week to wish you and your loved ones a very blessed Thanksgiving. As our own Blessed Solanus Casey (1870 – 1953) liked to say, “Gratitude is the first sign of a thinking, rational creature.” What gratitude we owe to our God who loved us into existence and sustains us in that relationship of love until, we pray, it finds its fulfillment in heaven.
On a personal note, I am so very grateful the priests, deacons, consecrated men and women and laity of this great diocese and I give thanks daily for your many apostolic endeavors. Thank you also for your support for our Year of the Bible which begins this weekend upon the First Sunday of Advent. Here’s to the start of great things!
Assuring you of my prayers, I am sincerely yours in Christ,
+ Earl

Watch: On the Path to Priesthood: Meet Diocese of Lansing seminarian, Seamus Kettner. 28-year-old Seamus hails from the parish of Saints Charles & Helena in Clio. He now studies at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit.
Today Seamus explains his journey towards seminary and, Deo volente, the sacred priesthood. Please keep Seamus in your prayers in the months to come. Saint Charles Borromeo, patron of seminarians, pray for him.
Watch: Pete Burak is a popular Catholic evangelist, speaker and writer. He is the Director of the Ann Arbor-based i.d. which exists to form young adults into intentional disciples of Jesus Christ. He is also married to Cait. They have two daughters, Grace and Erin, and two sons, Donovan and Zeke.
In this Diocese of Lansing Podcast, the Diocesan Director of Communications, David Kerr, asks Pete:
• What are the hallmarks of those young adults – Millennials and Generation Z – in terms of what they believe and how they live?
• What are the questions and stumbling blocks that young adults have when faced with the Christian proposition?
• How do Catholics – clergy and lay faithful – best respond to those questions and stumbling blocks in order to help young adults grow closer to Jesus Christ?
